Javed Akhtar : Jaduakhtar

Javed Akhtar is a poet, script writer, political activist and a dialogue writer. He has won various awards like Padmashree and Padmabhushan. Javed Akhtar is known as the infamous writer of Lagaan, Om shanti om and Kal ho na ho.

Javed Akhtar got his name Jadu from a line in his father’s poem, Lamha lamha kisi jadoo ka fasana Hoga. The book consists of his struggles when his life was a vale of tears.

EARLY LIFE:

Javed Akhtar was born in Gawalior, spend his childhood in Lucknow, schooling in Aligarh and university in Bhopal. By staying and having experience in so many different places he got to know about various people and their personalities.
At the age of 19 years, he went to Mumbai and the next year wrote his first movie.

COLLEGE LIFE:

Life wasn’t all gold and glittery for Javed Akhtar. Like any other person he too suffered loss and has his own share of struggles. During his college life, he had less than 5% attendance. Despite that, he sat for all the exams as he highly indulged himself in the extra curricular activities. He was a champion debater and won many trophies. He visited the Bhopal municipal library daily and read books there.

MESSAGE TO THE FUTURE WRITERS:

Javed Akhtar tells the future writer on ‘How to become a great writer’. He says that for becoming a writer one should read first. Reading should be done of every genre and of each and every field.

DOES JAVED AKHTAR MISS HIS MOTHER?

A question asked by Pooja Gupta a member of Flo Kanpur. Javed Akhtar was 9 years and at the early stages of his mother’s demise he was in a denial stage. And he had a defense mechanism and ran away from the things that made him miss his mother. After 10 years he first read his mothers letters. He says that he finds it ridiculous to miss his mother who is actually a 36 year old women.

LIFE OF JAVED AKHTAR IN REAL:

Javed Akhtar said that his personal life got lost because of his madness from the priviledge’s. At first he couldn’t get along very well with his step mother. He also had a dark phase in college life due to all this he even started drinking.
His first marriage with Honey Irani wasn’t a success and they had to split apart. Nonetheless he always communicated with his wife for a unanimous decision, when the matters related to his children arose.
